Perdition

from Anno Domini by Sleepwalkers

/

lyrics

A promise, silenced by the cold
Alone with these questions
All clarity withdrawn
Imprisoned, and mired in despair
Still seeking a reason, to press on
A burden to bear

Passage through the grief
Destination unclear
Blinded by hope
And purging the fear

Searching for an answer
A shadow on my mind
A trail to occupy
And forget the tears

Standing at the edge
The precipice of my world
Its breadth a haze unending

Yet the ignorant fool still marches on
This weight becomes his burden
Searching for shadows that time forgot
Imprisoned by obsession's hollow reward
And this distance is the closest source of warmth

Cannot hear my words
Repeated in despair
Voices incomplete
Silent and unfair

Senses tell me lies
Betraying my cognition
Willing to sacrifice
To reach my destination

The cause unravels
Succumbing to compulsions
Vanity inspired
A devil's impression
That drove me to this place
Delusions I embraced

Fallen deceiver
I spat upon the truth
And spun a liars web
Logic rejected
I know I'll find the truth
The gods shall serve me well

There is no turning back, trapped inside my head

Grievance of the truth, breaching my facade
A reminder of tainted life within
Spiraling control
Cornered by the weakness of my nature
A haunted stubborn soul

My mind slowly decays
Resolve now led astray
Despondent and unraveling
I taste perdition's flames

Enlightened by the fog
I accept what I've become
Abandon, a dead ill fated cause
